The Club History

Hallam FC are a football club based in Sheffield, England and currently play in the Northern Counties East League's premier division. Hallam FC was originally founded in 1860 making them the second oldest football club in the world, second to Sheffield FC who were founded just three years before in 1857. Hallam still play at their original ground at Sandygate Road which is currently recognised by the Guinness book of records as the oldest football ground in the world.

Hallam FC are also part of the oldest contested derby in the world against Sheffield Club and is known as the Sheffield Derby, which is still ongoing to the day. History was also made in 1867 when Hallam FC won the Youdan cup, the Youdan cup was the worlds first organised football tournament. Hallam FC went on to win against a fellow Sheffield Club, Norfolk, at Bramall Lane. The Youdan cup was organised by local theatre owner Thomas Youdan, it saw twelve Sheffield clubs join up with the exception of Sheffield FC due to them not playing any local fixtures at that time.

Hallam have competed in the Northern Counties East League since the league's formation in 1982, with their highest attained position being 3rd place in the premier division in the 2002/03 season. Hallam FC also progressed into the second round of the FA Cup in the 2006/07 season, with a record being 3rd round set in 1957. Hallam have also competed in the FA Vase with the best run attained was 5th round in 1980/81 season.
